Open Comment on Employment

Open Comment ♥ Employment 勞工

Redbean 13 Nov 2016: An inappropriate and very offensive clip on air
The sotong advertiser (silly assumptions): (1) No user/ password to access (shared) computer (2) No personal/ sensitive data stored in (public) computer ...
What should have been: (1) Authorised staff can access (project) shared folder (remotely) from own computer (2) Desktop is locked when unattended ...
Looks like we need more of such stupidity in Singapore: Middle-age Chinese non-talent must be super lucky to have (n not sabotaged by) younger Indian talent (illegal) help.

TechInAsia 13 Apr 2016: Singapore government to fight tech talent shortage with $90m
Redbean 13 Apr 2016: I like Yaacob Ibrahim
For DIM ICT, Singapore only believes in management know-how and looks down on technical knowledge-expertise. Worse is Singaporeans are not even given a fair environment to work on-the-job nowadays with foreign IT enclaves.

TOC 1 Apr 2014: Elderly cardboard collector killed by reversing taxi while looking for cardboard
Elderly in Singapore, especially the older (taxi grand-) uncle, need proper break and attention in their daily hard work (for extra income).

Redbean 13 Jan 2016: MOE, MOM and WDA restructured
Singapore Today Tough Job Market - Same employers (including Careers@Gov) are looking for so-hard-to-fit talents such that (online) job postings are automatically refreshed for months (to years). The eligible (lucky) applicant would be asked to attend (informal) Pre-Job-Interview meeting. The eligible (super-lucky) applicant would be given to-do-list tasks before granting (formal) Management-Job-Interview.

Redbean 28 Dec 2015: Why Singapore has no talents?
Singapore is busy running with 'talents' around to park many problems (some 1 year old) aside. If you cannot work in such 'accommodating' environment, you will be labelled a non-talent not fit to be in such 'low' standards.

Redbean 27 Dec 2015: Underemployment – Blame the young graduates
Highly follow by more Unfair Unemployment: Wrongful Termination - Blame the employees.
Employers fail to provide necessary work resources. Employees fail to perform illegal act at demand of employers.
Employers bypass proper termination procedures (to cover their ass). Employers are over and above the (Labour) Law.

TOC 23 Dec 2014: Local bus companies proven wrong by new bus company, Tower Transit
In a recent (for fun) Candidate Questionaire, I filled in below 3 factors that will make me stay in a job.
(1) Good environment (2) Work contribution (3) Fair employment

Redbean 16 Dec 2015: It is about time Singapore learn from Malaysia
Unfortunately, background check/ security clearance (minus integrity) are just manipulating tools to misuse/ abuse by company/ authority. For example, new citizen (10+ years here only) could take just fast-lane of 1-2 weeks, but local-born (3X+ years) could take delay-tortoise-speed of 2-3 months (even repeated) in Singapore.
After wasting time on background check (like contact of educational institution), the (bobian) big company would just misplace the passing candidate on dumping place (such as general work). After wasting resources on security clearance (even repeated), the (bobian) unfair company would later blame the experienced employee, without providing necessary work resources (such as legal license).

Redbean 11 Dec 2015: What can the govt of the people, by the people, for the people do?
Ironically, old Science Technology Engineering Maths are still lowly recognized by local company. Singapore is becoming a place for new Horse Eel Rat Dog.

Redbean 8 Dec 2015: When the light shuts out
This is the unhealthy (unfair) job market in Singapore, even local BIG company not supporting fair employment and not complying to governance.
Keep the mind open under the dim moonlight/starlight - nothing scary about having artificial light off, at least (still) saving electricity.

Redbean 1 Nov 2015: Work place exercise
For positive approach (in Singapore), company should provide conducive environment towards promising culture, could be on mandatory (and voluntary) short break.
Take special practice (in China), all lights must be off during lunch time, silence (and music) for those taking power nap, even pulling out their comfortable sleeping bed.

Catherine Lim 20 Aug 2015: Interview with ‘Hitlist’
Whether perceived or real fear, these underhand approaches reflect a lot of the manipulators’ insecurity.
If only there were true ultimate bosses in Singapore ... Work is Work! Personal is Personal!

TOC 3 Aug 2015: PMETs do face uncertainty, PM Lee now admits
SG50 HUMOR - Even public service and related companies not believing in fair employment and practice . Even to the extreme of coveting snake-and-mice desire of herd mentality like private companies . Even anyhow put blame on employee and no respect for Labour Law

Redbean 17 Nov 2014: PMEs – No need for more hare brain schemes
HR Policy Singapore - Old aunt cannot bear S$1-S$2 to buy simple food for meal . Parent cannot bear S$200-S$300 to purchase school book for child . Employer cannot bear S$3000-S$4000 to get experienced local for company

Mr Brown 8 Mar 2013: Core Singaporean is simi?
In serious term, Singaporean Core (People Support/ Pillar) means second after our Singapore Flag (National Symbol), and ready to get the country up on her feet (while others are passers-by).
In everyday term, these relationships akin to table top and legs (surrounded by flowing air below).

Feed Me To The Fish 17 Feb 2013: Majulah Singapura!
Lucky Tan 17 Feb 2013: Protest at Hong Lim Park 16 Feb 2013
Singaporeans need to be more responsive (than this black event) and be more self-reliant on ourselves (less foreign maids/ cleaners/ ...)?
Only with the right mentality will we be able to reach the point where Singapore can really rely less and less on foreigner again, ideally less than 25% ...
Neither PAP 6.9 (55% citizens??) nor WP 5.9 (don’t know what %?) said the right things (and priority) so far.

Lucky Tan 7 Feb 2013: Population White Paper : An Epic Failure at all levels
Mr Brown 7 Feb 2013: the mrbrown show: rise up for Singapore
Feed Me To The Fish 7 Feb 2013: 10 Days to “Say No To 6.9M”
Why put it like a black event for true Singapore spirit? Keep our red hearts open for CNY unity (even non-Chinese) and for Singapore!
For auspicious start to Year of Water Snake (and onwards), let every heart counts with Say Yes to Singaporeans 4.8 or 3.8!!
一生发!一世发!新年快乐!恭喜发财!
So to say, for PAP 6.9 (luck then longevity) or WP 5.9 (no longevity), let Singaporeans 4.8 or 3.8 (prosperity forever) to be at least 65% to 69% majority.

Feed Me To The Fish 6 Feb 2013: 11 Days to “Say No to 6.9M”
Whether it is PAP 6.9 (lesser land left) or WP 5.9 (a bit more land left), the upsize population/ economic numbers will be meaningless if Singaporeans are worse off!!
If can have big wishes (on paper for 18 years later), why not perhaps have a louder target to optimum TFR/ citizens employment to Say Yes to Singaporeans 4.8 or 3.8!?

Lucky Tan 4 Feb 2013: Letter from SBF shows divergent interests of some in the business community
Molly Meek 4 Feb 2013: Confessions of a Prime Minister
Despite Singaporeans hope that the country will be free from social ills caused by casino, the government (ONE is only bad) goes ahead with worst case of TWO at a go!
Despite Singaporeans hope that the citizens will be first priority in mind, the government (FIVE are only bad) will continue with worst case of SEVEN millions in the next 18 years!!
And the next unimaginable worst case – the government will eventually venture into the most destructive nuclear energy in foreseeable years to come!!?

Lucky Tan 30 Jan 2013: Population White Paper : Filled with flaws and unsubstantiated claims
Indeed an academically/ absolutely white paper on population numbers. And again without clear/ wise vision by blurring/ mixing Singaporeans/ PR together.
The sad picture is Singaporeans (excluding super-short-staying citizens) will have a harder/ tougher time to live/ survive with more than half of PR/ foreigner.

Diary of a Singapore Cabby 31 Oct 2012: A Millionaire Cabby with $7,000 per month Earning!
The rosy picture of a world-class cabby that looks up only for high-class customer/ high-earning route/ high-price package/ ...?
Congratulations, you are in Yahoo! news for a good cause. The answer is crystal clear.

Mr Brown 6 Sep 2012: It’s not rocket science
Individual can contribute in some way or another, even if relatively small or insignificant.
However, when too many things flunk together, it would well be a big system failure.

Feed Me To The Fish 14 Aug 2012: It’s His Fault!
Beyond Stop at Two faults on falling birth rate, there are other pressing issues surrounding us.
Cannot find life-long partner, especially those singles above 30 yrs old
Cannot conceive due to medical problem, even for those undergo IVF
Cannot provide good-upbringing of children due to broken relationship/ divorce
Cannot get extra energy to take care of children due to sick elderly at home
Cannot have extra money/ time for more than 1 child due to financial burden/ unstable job
Cannot afford extra energy/ effort for more than 2 children due to high parenthood expectation/ commitment ...

Lucky Tan 26 Jun 2012: ESM Goh : Do Immigrants Create Jobs?
Without serious stand to reduce the intake of foreigner, the fallacy of PAP strange believe in PR/ foreigner dependency will continue to be abused in Singapore (resisting minimum wage/ job quota/ ...).
The other challenges are how willingly ministries/ statutory boards/ GLCs/ DBS/ SIA/ SingTel and other local companies (in Singapore) will put the citizens’ interest to achieve meaningful growth together (till retirement/ death).

Today 3 May 2011: Majority not concerned about ministerial pay: SM
True wisdom is OVER-priced leaders can never gain full respect/ support from most Singaporeans if they continue to suit themselves with make-to-believe (and no U-turn?) HUGE pay that are MANY times above that of international countries (or Asian countries like HK).
With right attitude and clear mindset (NOT typical mindset of kia su/ kia si/ bo bian/ bo chap/ ...) in this election, citizens can look forward to bring about real positive changes together with potential party/ new team towards better generation of Singaporeans.

Today 11 Mar 2011: Parliament approves increase in President’s salary, expenditure
More brainwash for citizens to continue to provide more money/ power for current government/ president/ ministers?

Today 3 Mar 2011: DPM Teo on salary issue
Performance-linked pay is a good initiative, but OVER benchmarking kills; TRUE caring politician will not weigh valuable contributions to country (and sacrifice) with money.
Stressing on importance of OVER/ HIGH pay is detrimental to main purpose of serving citizens, and a major obstacle to bring in truly dedicated/ good role model for citizens.
Conscious government/ minister would NOT demand anything above that of international countries (or Asian countries like HK) to gain full respect/ support from most Singaporeans.

Today 10 Sep 2010: S’pore has room for 7.5m people: Ex-HDB chief
Huge influx of foreigners have already crossed over the dangerous line for well-being of many Singaporeans, having to face many negative impacts from extreme policies that government adopted.
Given so many empirical evidences that majority Singaporeans are already badly affected, the minority elites need to stop sticking their head so high to continue with their one-sided ideological view.

TR 4 Mar 2010: Sylvia Lim: the pace and scale of the influx of foreigners in the last few years was wrong
To live in dignity, one will always live with conscious mind/ good heart, and stick with what is right most of time; in contrast, opposite will follow blindly/ stubbornly to do what is wrong, that cause great harm/ endless miserable to other people.
To most Singaporeans, main purpose of getting job is to be able to bring in decent income to cover family expense, and to provide necessary support to ensure good upbringing of children.
Instead of showing good role model for citizens to follow, government seem to be overwhelmed by bringing in large foreigners to satisfy more economic gains; many time government have ignored real concerns that many Singaporeans face, and have forgotten about main duty to look after well-being of most Singaporeans.

TR 8 Feb 2010: Former Singapore Chief Statistician Paul Cheung: Singapore can still accommodate more people
Drawing hypothetical analysis on Singapore population/ public housing, but bad/ illogical deduction to support pro-foreigner based on this ground.
Ignoring other important factors that impact Singaporean life/ future is equivalent to providing biased/ unfair reasoning from outsider view.
Bringing Singapore forward does not depend on past data/ figures alone, but more importantly on continuous commitments/ voices of Singaporeans, no matter how small each can contribute.
